Free College Textbooks?

This post brought to you by MatchBook. All opinions are 100% mine.

Using Myer’s PsychologyTextbook? | READ FREE!Have you looked at the cost of college textbooks lately? If someone can explain to me why they're so expensive, I'd appreciate it. I'd really like to know. I'd hate to think that some of our young people out there can't afford the books they need for their college courses, but the plain truth is, many can't. That's a sad state of affairs for the most wealthy country in the world, isn't it? One of many, but don't get me started on all that.

Anyway, now there is an alternative. MatchBooks is a project that takes the best (and most expensive) college texts and closely matches them, using the same chapter order, core concepts and key terms, so that students are without the assigned textbook can read FREE online. MatchBooks are written by leading scholars and created using a strenuous editorial process. They're peer reviewed by college professors.

How can it be, you ask? They do this with the help of Flat World Knowledge. Flat World Knowledge just happens to be the world's largest publisher of free and open textbooks. I'm liking them already. You can like them too, just go see Flat World Knowledge on Facebook.

Here's an example of how this all works. Say you're taking Psychology and need the text Psychology 9e by Myers. All you have to do is check out the MatchBook version. It contains the same number of chapters, in the same order, with all the chapter topics the same. Let's take Chapter 6 for example. Myers' is titled "Sensation and Perception". MatchBook's? "Sensing and Perceiving".

Not sure about you, but I can sense and perceive that this project will help out a lot of pysch students! Whether they straight up can't afford the text, or they happen to be without it, they can still complete assignents with the help of MatchBooks.
